Virtual boy

A wireframe world in four shades of red.

Virtual boy is an arcade afterlife seen through a red LED visor. The scene is rendered on a coarse pixel grid, crushed into black and three reds, smeared by LED persistence and spaced like real LED rows, while anything that glows throws spikes and halos.

How to use it

Use the keyboard, or the on-screen stick on touch screens, to move and play.

Built with Three.js, WebGL, Post-processing. An interactive experiment by Joel Colombo, creative director and designer.
